Christmas Kick-Off in Innsbruck

This holiday season join RTT on an overnight adventure into the Alpine region of Austria where we spend two days visiting the Christmas wonderland of Innsbruck and the Swarovski Crystal World exhibition and factory outlet. If you are looking for the perfect Christmas season kick off, look no further!

Day 1: Welcome to the beautiful city of Innsbruck, nested in the magnificent snowcapped peaks of the Eastern Alps.  Our first stop brings us to the famous Swarovski Chrystal Factory and outlet. Here you can admire the “world’s biggest crystal” (137 pounds) as well as the “crystal scope”, an enormous kaleidoscope made of Swarovski crystal.  The outlet shop offers the chance to shop for special gifts, jewelry, figurines and great Christmas bling!

Early afternoon we check in to our Hotel for a chance to freshen up and perhaps add another layer of clothing to get ready for the first Christmas Market of the season. Join our tour guide for an introductory tour through Innsbruck’s old town. To stay warm, wrap your hands around a hot mug of Glühwein (mulled wine) and take in the scent of spices and sweet seasonal snacks, while we stroll down to the river. Here you will find the magnificent 50 foot tall Swarovski Chrystal Tree as the night falls, becomes the shinning centerpiece of the second Christmas Market.  It is the perfect evening to retreat into one of the cozy downtown Restaurants at pride with hearty Austrian culinary treats.

Day 2: After breakfast, and hotel checkout, the day is yours to explore. The crisp alpine air paired with the stunning mountain scenery creates a delightful ambiance to set you in sync with the holiday spirit. Beautifully decorated Christmas stalls nestled between attractive medieval buildings filled with treasures to adorn your Christmas tree, handicrafts, wooden goods and much more. Numerous decorated stalls offer a wide selection of seasonal culinary treats as well as locally made arts and crafts, and the perfect chance to purchase unique Christmas gifts for friends and family. After soaking up as much merry magic as possible, it’s time to return home with Christmas batteries fully charged!
