Today’s adventure begins with a scenic drive through the majestic Swiss Alps to the pristine shores of Lake Geneva or, Lac Leman, to the French. The city of Geneva is widely known as the city of peace with Headquarters of the European United Nations and the International Red Cross and is the diplomatic hub of Europe with beautiful shops and a most charming cobbled city center.
Day 1: Traveling south through the Alpine region of Switzerland, after arrival in Geneva we begin the day with a guided sight-seeing tour through the famous center of Geneva, home to the highest number of international and diplomatic organizations in the world including the European United Nations, the International Red Cross and the Olympic Committee. We will see the picturesque Jet d'Eau water fountain, an inviting old town with its medieval flair and romantic cobblestone streets and hopefully a glimpse of Mount Blanc (White Mountain), Europe’s largest Peak, providing the perfect backdrop for this picturesque city.
The remainder of the afternoon is free for independent exploration and the chance to soak up the unique and romantic ambiance of the town and perhaps take a boat tour through the beautiful turquoise alpine lake for another perspective, marvel at beautiful stores or get a taste of the most delicious Swiss chocolate.
Late afternoon check in to our Hotel where a delicious dinner awaits you. The evening is yours to get a good night’s rest or perhaps head back into town to enjoy Geneva all illuminated under the evening sky.
Day 2: After breakfast, it is time to begin our journey home and bid Geneva farewell, but we’re not done with Switzerland yet! On our way north, we will stop at the medieval town of Gruyere, famous for cheese and Aliens! Here we invite you to explore the sites of the historic town of Gruyere at your own pace. Visit the magnificent 13th-century Castle of Gruyères, take in the natural alpine scenery, shop the charming array of stores, or sample an authentic Swiss Fondue for lunch. Movie enthusiasts can find a special treat at the H.R. Giger’s Café & Museum, where Giger’s peculiar aesthetic, made famous by his set designs and monsters in “Aliens”, is displayed and celebrated.
