Morocco is an enchanting mix of Arab, Moorish, African, and European influences come together to create a one-of-a-kind rich cultural experience, filled with unique architecture, delicious oriental food and the most colorful markets that are unlike anything you have seen before. Journey with us on this 5-day trip that is not only a feast for the eyes, but mind, body and soul!
Day 1: A morning departure from Frankfurt Airport takes us directly to Marrakesh. Upon arrival at the airport, we will meet our local guide, travel to our hotel and get settled in and enjoy our first local dinner. On the way to our Hotel, we will already be introduced to highlights and incredible architecture of this colourful city.
Over the next few days we will be hypnotized and enchanted by the magic of Morocco and experience the fascinating ambiance, scents and culture that inspired the legendary 1001 Nights fairytale!
Day 2: Marrakesh, the Pearl of the South and second most important royal city in the country, awaits! After a hearty breakfast, our local guide will lead us through the city's most notable landmarks, including the impressively tall Koutoubia Mosque, celebrated for its intricate minaret and historical significance. The Medina of Marrakesh is a densely packed, walled medieval city dating back to the Berber Empire. Here, you'll find a labyrinth of colorful alleys, like the Souk Semmarine known for its vibrant textiles. Explore bustling shops offering a variety of spices – imagine the fragrant aromas of saffron, cumin, and ras el hanout filling the air!
With insider tips from our local guide, the remainder of the day is yours to explore at your own pace. Taste some of the local delicacies – perhaps a sweet mint tea or a savory tagine. Don't forget to haggle for your perfect find at the market.
Day 3: We start our day bright and early with breakfast at the hotel, before traveling through Morocco, alongside the vibrant and dynamic landscape of the Middle Atlas Mountains en route to Rabat, the country's capital, and the current royal headquarters. Here you will find a perfect mixture of 'old & new' architectural masterpieces, such as the impressive Hassan Tower, a minaret left unfinished, a testament to the ambition of its original builders. We'll also visit the glowing Mausoleum of Mohammed V, its white marble and intricate details creating a peaceful and awe-inspiring atmosphere. While access to the Royal Palace is limited to viewing its grand facade and surrounding gardens, you'll be captivated by the intricate mosaics and quintessential Arabic interior design evident in its architecture.
Late afternoon we check in to our comfortable hotel, conveniently located near the city center, and enjoy a well-deserved dinner featuring traditional Moroccan cuisine.
Day 4: After breakfast at the Hotel, we continue with the second part of our guided tour through Rabat, discovering the beauty of this city, including the well-known Kasbah of the Oudaias. Lose yourself in its charming, blue-washed alleyways, wander through the tranquil Andalusian gardens, and enjoy breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean.
During the second half of the day, you will have ample free time for some independent exploration. We find ourselves right next to the Ocean, so perhaps an afternoon at Plage de Rabat, known for its soft sand and gentle waves, sounds appealing. Or perhaps a relaxing treatment at a local Hammam, a traditional Moroccan bathhouse, is in order. You could also explore the Medina, searching for unique souvenirs like handcrafted leather goods or traditional pottery. The town is just waiting for you to explore.
Day 5: After breakfast, we visit the famous metropolis of Casablanca, Morocco's economic powerhouse and a city where modern skyscrapers meet traditional architecture. It rose to international fame from the movie “Casablanca” with Humphrey Bogart’s famous line; “Here’s looking at you, kid”. Here we visit the Great Mosque of Hassan II, an architectural treasure rising majestically over the ocean. Its sheer size is breathtaking, and it's adorned with intricate tilework, hand-carved cedarwood, and delicate stucco, showcasing the highest quality of Moroccan craftsmanship.
In the afternoon, we arrive back in Marrakesh, where we'll enjoy some additional time in the city. Perhaps a last visit to the souk. Before our flight back to Frankfurt later that night, we'll sit down for a farewell group dinner overlooking the famous Jemaa el-Fnaa, the liveliest gathering spot in town. Immerse yourself in the sights, sounds, and smells of this vibrant square – where the sounds of storytellers and musicians fill the air. We'll savor a delicious Moroccan feast, reminiscing about the incredible experiences we've shared as we prepare to leave with cherished memories of Morocco's beauty, culture, and warmth and a promise to return someday.
Day 6: After a midnight departure and a short direct flight, we arrive at Frankfurt Airport in the early morning hours.
