Let RTT introduce you to Golden Prague, Karlstejn Castle and beer passion in Pilsen on this 3-day / 2-overnight journey that explores some of Bohemia’s best-loved treasures! This trip offers something for everyone including history, culture, many culinary highlights and great shopping for almost anything imaginable. The relaxed pace of this tour affords plenty of free time for wandering off the beaten track into Prague’s side streets, and rustic courtyards, and exploring the city’s many churches, shopping areas and attractions. Amongst the highlights of this special trip are a visit to the famous Pilsen Urquell Brewery, where we will learn more about the story of beer brewing as well as Karlstejn Castle, a gothic gem and former residence to no one less than King Charles himself. Get your pallet ready because this weekend we will sample some sensational Czech cuisine!
Day 1: Our adventure begins high above the town of Prague at a specialty restaurant & microbrewery, inside one of the towns oldest Monastery’s with a hearty Bohemian style lunch. This hearty meal will Invigorate and fresh you for our walking tour of Prague and the Castle with our local guide beginning after lunch. The Castle of Prague, only steps away from our lunch location, is the largest preserved fortress from the middle ages in all of Europe. From atop the castle hill we descend into town, crossing the Vltava (Moldau) River on the famous Charles bridge and walk towards old town square. Filled with new impressions it is time to pause for a moment, get off our feet and spoil ourselves to a well-deserved traditional Czech pastry and a steaming hot beverage.
Early evening, we will check in to our 4-star Hotel, providing ample time to relax or explore on your own for the evening.Day 2: After breakfast at the hotel, we travel west to visit Karlstejn Castle. The Gothic castles dates back to the 13th century and was founded by no other than Charles IV, emperor of the Holy Roman Empire and King of Prague and Bohemia. For a few years, the castle served as his private residence but was most famous for being the fortress for safeguarding the Royal Treasures.
Back in Prague, this legendary city is all yours to explore independently at your own pace. Take advantage of the tour guides recommendations of all the “must see” places in town. Make sure to ask your guide about the possibility of a cruise along the famous river for a different vantage point of the city.
Day 3: After breakfast and hotel checkout, we travel to Pilsen, home of the original Pilsner Beers and still a major producer of all Czech brews. Upon arrival, will enjoy an in-depth tour in the Pilsner Urquell Brewery where we will learn about the origins and almost 200-year legacy of this famous ale. After learning the history and gaining insights into the manufacturing process, we will be rewarded with a sample of the unfiltered Pilsner Urquell Beer in the historical cellars. Before we head back to Ramstein, we will make one final stop at the oldest restaurant in Pilsen, built in 1637, for a delicious traditional lunch of savory beef broth with homemade noodles, beef sirloin in cream sauce with white bread dumplings, cranberries and sour cream and for dessert poppy crumb cake. After this fortifying lunch, you can settle in for a nice nap during the relaxing journey home.
