Join RTT on a special weekend trip, one overnight trip to Belgium where all your senses will be captivated by fantastic Flemish sights, tasty treats, the shimmering colorful lights of Bright Brussels Light Festival and the magical medieval allure of Bruges.
Day 1 An early morning departure takes us west, into Belgium, and the capital city of Brussels, famous for Art Deco taverns, unique Flemish art, sprawling Gothic cathedrals, and quaint guild houses. Upon arrival, we will check in to our hotel and meet our local guide who will be eagerly waiting to share all the highlights this magnificent city has to offer. During your tour through the city center, your guide will introduce you to the Grand Palace, the Manneken Pis the Atomium, and other popular sites. Along the way, you will learn about the cultural offerings of the city, including the famous beer-making tradition that thrives here, and delicious culinary treats such as Belgium Waffles, delicious Chocolate, and of course, how to best enjoy the Light Show that will illuminate the heart of the city come nightfall. Having been properly introduced to the bustling city of Brussels, the remainder of the day is your own to experience all the city has to offer. As day turns to dusk, and the clock strikes 7 PM, a gorgeous glow will ignite the amazing architecture, allowing you to immersive yourself in artistic illuminations of the Royal Quarter, European Quarter, and other bright delights.
Day 2 After a hearty European-style breakfast and hotel checkout, we travel further west and continue our adventure to the city of Bruges, also known as the “Venice of the North” for its picturesque canals that wind through the center of town. Upon arrival, our guide will introduce you to this charming city and highlight all the ways you can enjoy your time here. On our Canal Boat Excursion, we explore the city from another unique perspective of the expansive network of canals. The remainder of your time here is your own to independently pursue what interests you most in this amazing city. Stroll the charming cobblestone streets, lined with a tapestry of almshouses, market squares, and quaint canals, all woven together to create a medieval magical fairytale and one-of-a-kind atmosphere that is sure to delight and enchant you. Your free time is the ideal chance to visit one of the many museums or other sites highlighted by your guide or do a little souvenir shopping. If you are a chocolate lover, be sure to sample the amazing chocolates Bruges is famous for, or if you're more of a beer connoisseur, visit one of the many local breweries for an in-depth tasting before it is time for us to come together and bid farewell to Belgium and begin the journey home.
