Join us on a special extended holiday season trip that visits the oldest and most famous German Christmas Markets; Leipzig, Dresden & Nurnberg. This adventure will celebrate different Christmas traditions and showcase many different culinary delights in the midst of festively decorated markets. Amazing shopping opportunities for rare and unique items as well as great cultural highlights can be found in all 3 cities.
Day 1: After an early morning departure from Ramstein, our first stop on our Christmas Grand Slam tour will be the beautiful town of Leipzig. Upon arrival, follow our guide into the heart of the town center with highlights such as the St. Thomas Church, the town’s beautiful backdrop, the Augustus square the heart of the city and the world famous Gewandhaus Concert Hall. This time of the year the city center is bursting with Christmas sparkle and more then 300 festively decorated stalls. All filled with Christmas spirit we continue our journey on to Dresden, our host for the next 2 nights. After check in to our downtown hotel and some ample free time, we take a stroll through the city to the famous Sophienkeller where a festive Christmas dinner awaits us.
Day 2: After breakfast we will join a local guide on a tour through the city by bus and on foot, relishing the baroque beauty, palaces, domed churches the Zwinger and the magnificent “Semper Opera.” Let the romantic atmosphere and the festive charm inspire you to spend your free time in the bustling squares of this favored German Christmas market, enjoy some Glühwein (mulled wine) and a taste of the famous Dresdner Stollen (German Christmas cake). A real treasure are the wood crafted ornaments from the nearby Ore Mountains. Favorite souvenirs are the well-known Nutcracker, Räuchermännchen (Incense Smokers) and Christmas pyramids (carousels with figures of the Christmas story).
If your shopping is done, take some time and explore the many other attractions Dresden is famous for, the famous treasury “Grüne Gewölbe” and the picture gallery of the “Old Masters” inside the well-known “Dresdener Zwinger”
Day 3: After breakfast at the hotel and check out, the holiday enchantment will continue. Today we visit the famous Bavarian town of Nurnberg, home of the famous Christmas Angel. The town is filled with old traditions, craftsmanship and passion that have been passed down for generations and makes a visit to this market a rare treat. The Christmas market is situated in the center of old town and filled with stands of tasty Bavarian specialties you won't find elsewhere, the famous Nurnberger ginger bread cookies, the typical Nurnberg sausages and the famous Flaming Fire Tongs, a mulled wine ablaze with a rum soaked sugar loaf will send your taste-buds into a seasonal flavored overdrive.
