Swiss Fondue Fantasy

Delve into a delicious adventure that explores the best of Switzerland’s culinary delights and alpine heights!  Our day begins aboard the Swiss Cheese Train where we will travel in comfort, taking in the stunning and unobstructed views through the train's special panoramic windows.  Our journey will take us through the Swiss Rivera and the vineyards surrounding Montreux, then further into the pristine Swiss highlands, ascending through the charming countryside that wraps around Lake Geneva.

At the summit of our train ride we arrive in Chateau-d’ Oex, were we will be indulged in by the artisans and staff of Le Calet Bio with a cheese-making demonstration, providing savory samples and an overview of the long-standing history and methods of artisanal alpine cheese making.  You will also learn how these high-quality cheeses are protected with AOP (PDO) and IGP (PGI) labels that guarantee the highest standards in terms of origin, processes and quality. The restaurant is an ambassador of these labels guaranteeing you the finest range of products made in Pays-d'Enhaut.

In the rustic warm atmosphere of the restaurant, your  cravings for all things cheese will be satisfied by a meal of the heart melting fondue “Le Calet Bio”, one of Switzerland’s most iconic and tasty dishes. This one-of-a-kind experience will completely immerse you in the delicious culinary culture and proud traditions of Switzerland.  Before we depart visit the on-site shop provides the opportunity to purchase cheese as well as other local products, Swiss wines and souvenirs from this region and enjoy some free time in Chateaux-d’ Oex.

After thoroughly taking in the alpine Swiss countryside, we will board the train for the spectacular descent offering more stunning views of Montreux and Lake Geneva in the backdrop. The remainder of the day is your to explore Montreux, where you can take advantage of great shopping opportunities, local eateries, and spectacular scenery.  Stroll the promenade lined with sculptures, Mediterranean trees and grand Belle Époque buildings just perfect for picture taking.  There will be plenty of free time to shop for cheese, souvenirs and other high-quality items found only in Switzerland before we depart and travel back to Ramstein.
