Crystal Christmas in Innsbruck

Jumpstart your holiday season with a winter escape to Austria and the Innsbruck Christmas Market, one of the most famous Christmas markets in the region! As we head south, our first stop will be the famous Swarovski Crystal World  exhibition and factory outlet.  Here you can admire the “world’s biggest crystal” (137 pounds) as well as the “crystal scope”, an enormous kaleidoscope made of Swarovski crystal.  The outlet shop offers the chance to shop for special gifts, jewelry, figurines and great Christmas bling!

We continue our journey to the heart of Tyrol into the city of Innsbruck. Innsbruck hosts several Christmas markets over the course of the season, all offering a slightly different experience from traditional, romantic and festive.  The crisp alpine air paired with the stunning mountain scenery creates a delightful ambiance to set you in sync with the holiday spirit. Beautifully decorated Christmas stalls are nestled between attractive medieval buildings filled with treasures to adorn your Christmas tree, handicrafts, wooden goods and more. Wrap your hands around a hot mug of Glühwein (mulled wine) and take in the scent of spices and sweet seasonal snacks, while you stroll along and admire the sparkling Swarovski Chrystal Tree in the center of the market that stands almost 50 feet tall. During your free time here, perhaps take a scenic journey on the hybrid funicular up to Hungerburg and enjoy the panoramic winter view over this jewel of a city.
